Willard L. Klobe

1916 - 2015

Willard L. Klobe 99, formerly of Walnut St. Milton, passed away on June 5, 2015 at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.  Born in Loganton on January 11, 1916 he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Yarrison) Klobe.  He was married in 1939 to the former Doris Sheesley, who preceded him in death in March 1994.

Willard was a graduate of Loganton High School and was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Milton. He was a consistory member, Deacon and Elder. He worked as a master machinist and retired from A.C.&F in Milton.  

Willard was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific theater. He served with the 757th Field Artillery Battalion as a Technical Corporal.  He survived 172 straight days of combat and participated in the Battle of Manila. He was a member of the American Legion Post 71 in Milton, the VFW and was an honorary member of the Athens/Sayre Kiwanis club.  

He liked hunting, fishing and bird and squirrel watching.  He loved to go to the Broken Oar, his fishing camp in Ulster, PA, his favorite place on earth.  Willard could fix anything and he built his home and his son's home.  Willard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He is survived by a son and daughter in law Charles E. "Buck" and Patricia Klobe of Milton, two brothers Harold Klobe of Santa Monica, CA and Charles L. Klobe Jr. of Lock Haven, and two sisters Dorothy Meixell and Mildred Klobe both of Milton, two grandchildren Steven E. and Stephanie S. and three great grandchildren.

Willard was preceded in death by four brothers Frederick, Kenneth, Glen and Herman "Lindy" Klobe and two sisters Thelma Biersley and Hazel Klobe.

Friends and relatives will be received on from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday June 9 at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St. Milton where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m..  Officiating will be Rev. Sharon Von Blohn and Rev. Peter Geschwindner.  Burial with military honors will be in Milton Cemetery
