Russell L. Oberdorf, Jr

1949 - 2018

Russell L. Oberdorf, Jr, 69, of Milton passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Danville on January 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Russell L. Oberdorf Sr. and Kathryn L. (Conard) Oberdorf Sonder.  He was married to the former Jacqueline Engleman, she survives.

Russell was a 1967 graduate of Milton High School and had worked for Milton Manufacturing Co. and Celotex retiring in 2012. 

He had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 71 and the VFW Post 1665 and the 40 & 8 Club all of Milton, and the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Millmont.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children Kelly Eister and her husband Scott of Florida, Chad Oberdorf of Florida, Michael Oberdorf and his wife Heather of Milton and Eric Oberdorf and his wife Nichole of Milton; five grandchildren Austin Oberdorf, Gabrielle Oberdorf, Zander Oberdorf, Addison Oberdorf, and Nadia Oberdorf; and two sisters Kathleen A. Wieand of Milton and Margaret E. Cravatt of Milton.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sabrina Sandeen.

Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Shaw Funeral Home 400 N. Front St. Milton.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Michael Reese officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Milton Cemetery.
