Roland D. Kemper Sr.

1940 - 2015

Roland D. Kemper Sr. 75, of Park Drive, New Columbia, passed away on Thursday August 6, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.  Born in Berwick on February 8, 1940 he was the son of the late Leonard W. and Jean A. (Thomas) Kemper.  He was married to the former Linda J. DeWalt who survives.


Roland graduated from Nescopeck High School and served in the Navy.  He was a truck driver for Design Homes in Berwick and worked as a serviceman for Farm and Home Oil Co. in Milton.  Roland loved his family and the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He liked to hunt and fish and he enjoyed cooking.  He was a life member of Ranger Hose Company in Berwick.


He is survived by four sons Roland D. Kemper Jr. (Charlotte) of Catawissa, Anthony J. Kemper of Smithfield, Brian D. Kemper of Berwick, and Perry Luft (Becky) of Ohio; five daughters Kim Kemper Rea (Harry) of Milton, Nikie L. DeWalt of Milton, Raschelle L. Irvin (William) of Mifflinburg, Bobbie Jo Haupt (Chad) of Shamokin, and Lisa Luft of Catawissa; four brother Edward W. Kemper (Peg) of Florida, David F. Kemper (Rosemary) of Berwick, Lenord W. Kemper of Berwick, and John W. Kemper (Loretta) of Berwick; three sisters Bonita M. Kemper-Klatt of Berwick, Susan E. Kemper Younker of Berwick, and Kathleen J. Kemper Diehl of Alabama; 13 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren


Roland was preceded in death by a son Drew A. Kemper


Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday August 12 from 10-11 a.m. at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St. Milton where his memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Butch Woolsey officiating.
