Robert O. Woodruff

1921 - 2015

Robert O. Woodruff, 93, formerly of Mahoning St. Milton; passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Riverwoods in Lewisburg.

 

Born in Potts Grove on October 31, 1921; he was the son of the late Isaac and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Woodruff.  He was married for 64 years to the former Mary Kathryn Dietz until her death in 2005.

 

Robert had worked for Follmer Trucking.  He had served in the US Navy as a Petty Officer during WW II.  He was a life member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen’s Association, and a life member of the American Legion in Watsontown.  He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and camping.  In 1938 to 1939 he worked at the CCC Camp in Luray, VA along Skyline Drive, now the Blue Ridge Parkway.

 

He is survived by two daughters Judith A. Watts of Milton and Virginia Cashner of Lewisburg; three grandchildren Michelle Watts, Robert Shreck and Shane Shreck all of Milton; seven great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Watts and five brothers and six sisters.

 

Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, August 20, 2105 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Shaw Funeral Home 400 N. Front St. Milton.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 with the Rev. Sharon Von Blohn officiating.  Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.

I am terribly sorry to hear Uncle Bob passed. He was such sweet man. I will always remember the sparkle in his eye and his sweet smile! You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
