Rev. Shirley Strickland

1929 - 2019


Rev. Shirley Strickland, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

Born in Boston, MA on October 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Caleb and Lillian (Sweetser) Mitchell.

Shirley was a graduate of Natick High School, Natick, MA, the Newton- Wellesley School of Nursing, Newton, MA and Zion Bible Institute, Barrington, RI.

Shirley had worked as an LPN, was an Evangelist, a Pastor and the author of three books.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and travelling, cooking and baking.  She was a member of the Revival Tabernacle, Watsontown, PA. She was a pastor of the worship Center, Indianapolis, IN and Living Waters Ministry Manchester, NH.  She had traveled to Mexico three times, Paris, Belgium, and Holland to preach God’s Word.

She is survived by her daughter Joyce Newton of Milton; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a great, great granddaughter and her beloved poodle Lilybelle.

She was preceded in death by a son Sgt First Class Clifford Strickland; and three brothers Harold Mitchell, Stanley Mitchell and Arthur Mitchell.

Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Revival Tabernacle 960 Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, PA.  funeral services will begin at 4:00 with the Rev. James Bond and the Rev Elwood Maneval officiating.

Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
