Polly M. Heckman

1933 - 2018

Polly M. Heckman, 85, of White Deer Pike, White Deer, passed away on November 28, 2018 at Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born in West Milton on July 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Minnie (Grieff) Stump.  On February 10, 1951 she married Clarence W. Heckman.  Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage until his death in October.  She is now spending eternity with her true love. With her husband they had the heart of Jesus and took joy in serving others.

Polly was a 1951 graduate of Milton High School and as the world’s greatest homemaker and served as a cook for the Milton Shoe Factory and the Milton American Legion.   She did not consider cooking as work, even though she was "employed" to do it at times. She loved making a beautiful home, taking care of her husband and family and especially cooking. She considered it a privilege.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Milton where she served in several offices over the years.  She was also a former Cub Scout Den Mother, and former member of both the New Columbia Civic Association and the White Deer Park Association.  She was also a faithful member of the New Columbia United Methodist Church until her decline in health.

She is survived by a daughter Jeanette “Jan” Hanlon of New Columbia; four grandchildren Michael “Tony” Heckman, Stephen Heckman and his wife Jen, Saranda (Brungard) Fritz and her husband Ryan, and Kalicia Brungard, three great grandchildren Lydia, Lucas, and Evalynn Fritz; a sister Cynthia “Wink” Stump of New Columbia and a niece that was raised as a sister Donna Seebold of Milton.

Polly was preceded in death by a son, Michael T. Heckman; six brothers Clinton Stump, Freemont Stump, Harold “Goose” Stump, Donald “Bill” Stump, Lee “Pete” Stump and Foster “Pork” Stump; and three sisters Claire Paulhamus, Lila Finck and Irene Rearick.

Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Frist Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Rd., Milton, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Jamie Dries officiating.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 71, 401 N. Front St., Milton, PA 17847
