Pauline M. "Polly" Stahl

1928 - 2019

Pauline May “Polly” (Hagerman) Stahl, 90, of Watsontown, went to sleep and rest in Jesus, March 11, 2019 at Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Born in Watsontown on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Lee J. and Ada U. (Becher) Hagerman of Anthony Township, Montour County.  She was married to Melvin L. Stahl on December 9, 1949.  Together they celebrated 69 years of marriage.

She was a 1947 graduate of the former North-Mont High School, Turbotville, and trained in Milton as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  While raising a family of five children and assisting with grandchildren, she worked at the former Devitt Home, Allenwood and the former Kramn Nursing Home, Watsontown, where she retired after thirty-five years.  She particularly loved her last two years doing the restorative care.  Having a love for running since the days of her youth, she often ran from one nursing room to another. In her earlier years she worked in the Turbotville silk mill and did housekeeping.  She had been a member of the California Grange No. 941.

She was caring, selfless and always trying to please others.  She was a prayer warrior and always had her family and others in her prayers.  She spent many hours on the phone, or visiting, listening to other’s needs and giving encouragement.  She had the gift of hospitality.  She enjoyed reading her Bible and was an active and devoted member of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Joan E. (Richard) Fulmer of Williamsport; and four sons: Kerry N. (Sally) Stahl of Watsontown, Franklin P. (Kay) Stahl of Allenwood, Dale A. (Yvonne) Stahl of Watsontown, Lee W. (Wendy) Stahl of Reading; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her beloved siblings and in-laws: sister Miriam R. (David) Dell of Lansdale, sister-in-law Jennie B. (Lowe) Hagerman of Turbotville, brother Richard E. (Irene) Hagerman of Forth Worth, Texas, brother Robert L. (Connie) Hagerman of Turbotville; 44 nephews and nieces; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald D. and Jay M. Hagerman, brother-in-law, Lewis P. Simpson and sister-in-law, Vivian M. (Beaver) Hagerman.

Graveside service will be at Twin Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, on Friday, March 29 at 2 PM.   A memorial service will be held at the Williamsport Seventh-day Adventist Church, 201 Market St., on Saturday, March 30 at 4 PM followed by a meal and visitation time at the Mountain View Christian School, 305 Fleming St., South Williamsport.

Aunt Polly had a beautiful smile that lit up her whole face. She had such a sweet, quiet spirit that shared God's love with everyone. I have good memories of spending some of my summer days with the family. I always felt welcome even though there was already a house full. She is fondly remembered and sadly missed.

Polly was the very first person to welcome us on our first visit to the Williamsport SDA Church. She as was a truly devoted & committed Christian She would always talk to you in a caring & loving way. It was my privileged to have know Polly. Our world would be a better place with more Polly Stahls in it.
