Helen Hastings Patten

Helen Hastings Patten, 18, of Watsontown, died Feb. 2, 2019 at home.

Born Jan. 23, 2001 in Danville, she was the daughter of Catherine M. Hastings and Thomas N. Patten of Watsontown, who survive.

Helen was a homebound student in the Warrior Run School District. She enjoyed horseback riding at Eos Therapeutic Riding Center near Bloomsburg.

Born with multiple disabilities, Helen brought out the best in other people. She was a gentle soul who delighted in wide open spaces and the wind on her face.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Penn H. Patten, at home; uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was supported by a village worth of nurses, doctors, teachers, therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and friends.

Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 3:30 to 4:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Watsontown, 401 Main St. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Elizabeth Affsprung, pastor of Covenant Central Presbyterian Church of Williamsport, presiding. Private interment will be in the Watsontown Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Shaw Funeral Home of Milton.

Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to Eos Therapeutic Riding Center, 288 Dahl Road, Bloomsburg PA 17815.
