Francis O. “Skip” Woolsey

1938 - 2016

Francis O. “Skip” Woolsey, 77, of Milton, passed away Thursday morning, January 7, 2016 at his home.

Born in Milton on April 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Maurice and Margaret Irene (Walls) Woolsey.  He was married to his first wife the former Eva Snyder for 11 years until her death in 1969, and his second wife the former Carol Snook, she survives. His death breaks a marital union of 45 years.

Skip attended Milton schools and had worked for American Home Foods retiring in 1996.  He was also a farmer and black smith. He was affiliated with God’s Missionary Church, New Columbia.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, butchering and spending time with his family.

He is survived by six children and their spouses Debra and Don Dreese of Dewart, Christine and Jeff Oberdorf of Milton, Mike and Melanie Woolsey of Milton, Joshua and Amanda Woolsey of Milton, Julie and Russel Bowers of Milton and Francis C. Woolsey of Milton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister Mary Rider of Milton; and two sisters in law Peggy Woolsey of Potts Grove and Dorothy Woolsey of Milton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Maurice “Sonny” Woolsey and James Woolsey; and a sister Evelyn Marshall.

Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Shaw Funeral Home 400 N. Front St. Milton.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM with Matt Ellison officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.

My prayers and thoughts go out for the family. Skip and I were good friends in our younger days. He'll be missed.
